Lambda-Cyhalothrin is a synthetic pyrethroid, a man-made version of natural-occurring pyrethrum which is derived from petals of the chrysanthemum flower. Lambda-Cyhalothrin has the ability to kill target insects either through coming into physical contact with the chemical or via consumption. Lambda-Cyhalothrin is a preferred active ingredient for many pest control product manufacturers due to its long-lasting residual effect compared to other chemical ingredients.
The physical properties of lambda-cyhalothrin are that it is a colorless chemical but can also appear beige in solid form and has a mild odor. It has a low water solubility and is nonvolatile. Lambda-Cyhalothrin comes in a number of different forms of pest control products--from liquid insecticide concentrates to dusts and granules and even granular formulations.
Lambda-Cyhalothrin products work exceptionally fast to treat a wide number of household pests. It's a dual-action insecticide, which means that the synthetic pyrethroid gets to work right away either by touch or via ingestion.
Lambda-Cyhalothrin, much like other pyrethroids, kills targeted insects via disrupting and compromising the insect's central nervous system. This leads to the excitement of the insect nerve cells which results in paralysis. With the insect paralyzed and unable to conduct its regular bodily functions, the insect dies of starvation. The poison is spreadable and is known to transfer throughout a target insects population, killing off the entire colony.
